\\ Batad Rice Terraces, the Philippines

The rice terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras, including the Batad Rice Terraces, were named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. The terracing is thought to have been started two thousand years ago and the terraces are currently maintained by the whole community in a cooperative effort.
