\\ Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train, Suvla Bay (ICS84/D/5/463)

At 5am on 6 August 1915, the Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train, landed at Suvla Bay. The Train's role was to land a great part of the stores of the British Army. Work including the construction of piers for landing troops and supplies, and evacuating wounded soldiers; landing and disembarking of troops and munitions and stores; the supply of water (brought in by sea); erection of high explosive magazines, dug-outs, cookhouses and galleys; assembly of hospital huttings; and acting as wireless operators and draughtsmen for the Army Corp.
